Josh was extremely knowledgeable about the history and the formation of the canyon and even showed us some interesting things along the way, like tiny fossils embedded in stone! But soon after we started, the rain began to roll in… We trusted Josh’s judgement when he said that it may be best to turn around and head to another area that he could show us because the risk of getting caught in a flood just wasn’t worth it. We arrived at the canyon and began our trip inwards which apparently is usually about 2 hours or so. He was very rule & safety conscious and wanted to ensure that we went into the tour as safely as possible. Right away, he explained that lately there had been some flooding in the canyon, (increasingly throughout this year of 2022) so if the rain rolled in, there may be a change of plans with the tour.
